Yes, “Dancing Owl” is my Burning Man name. That makes this the perfect moment to list my spiritual credentials and assure you that I’m extremely enlightened. I mean, look at the mystical shirt. Clearly, you are dealing with the real thing.
Why I made this
A PhD. Years at Google. Still defeated by Facebook.
The less glamorous truth is that I’m probably every bit as gloriously unfinished as the rest of you wonderful hippies. I have, however, taken an unusual route here: a PhD in bioscience, neuroscience research in the United States, 12 years working on Google Maps, and somehow I still cannot reliably discover a Saturday dance without disappearing down a social-media rabbit hole.
Great events vanish into the feed. This calendar is meant to help the right people find the right rooms and give them an honest heads-up about what each gathering actually is.
Consent is a particularly big part of that for me. Through Consent to Kiss, I’ve worked on making conversations about touch, boundaries and bodily autonomy earlier, clearer and far less awkward.
“Conscious” is not a holiness certificate. Here it means events making a sincere effort toward presence, connection, consent and embodied participation.
